When the trigger is pulled, the firing pin spring is compressed until the firing pin is released, at which point the firing pin spring drives the firing pin into the primer. The harder the spring, but also the harder it is to squeeze the trigger, the harder it is to hit the primer. The usual silver spring weighs 24N, whereas this red spring weighs 28N.
